Turkish artist Gülsen Tuncer has died at the age of 81, following an artistic career spanning more than half a century, during which she appeared in dozens of works across theater, film, and television.

Arab audiences widely knew Gülsen through the character "Arsen Hanım" in the famous Turkish series Aşk-ı Memnu (Forbidden Love).
The announcement of Gülsen Tuncer's death came days after news broke of her deteriorating health, with the "Film-San" foundation having called on the artist's fans and loved ones to pray for her, without disclosing details about the nature of her illness.
Over the past period, some Turkish media outlets had circulated reports that Gülsen Tuncer was suffering from a brain tumor and had lost the ability to speak and write, though neither her family nor her treating medical team issued official confirmation of these details.
Following the announcement of her death, fellow actress Nebahat Çehre mourned her late colleague with a moving message, expressing her sorrow at losing one of the artists who had shared many years of her artistic journey with her.
Nebahat Çehre said: "I feel deep sadness... as the years go by, saying goodbye to the people we've shared the journey with becomes harder," expressing her love for Gülsen Tuncer and wishing her peace and rest.
Gülsen Tuncer gained widespread fame among Arab audiences after portraying the character "Arsen Hanım," sister of Adnan Bey and aunt of Nihal and Bülent, in the series Aşk-ı Memnu, which began airing in 2008.
Tuncer appeared in the show alongside a group of Turkish drama's most prominent stars, including Beren Saat, Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ, Hazal Kaya, Nebahat Çehre, and Selçuk Yöntem, with her character remaining one of the faces audiences associate with the series in their memory.
Gülsen Tuncer began her artistic career on the theater stage in 1968, before moving into film and television, continuing her artistic presence for more than five decades until she became one of the well-known faces of Turkish drama.
