Rami Al-Adwan, Director of Agriculture in Ajloun, confirmed that the directorate is implementing several programs to enhance soil and water management, train farmers on organic techniques, and support the establishment of small production units that improve crop quality.

He highlighted that organic farming represents a sustainable choice amid environmental challenges, noting that the directorate regularly monitors successful experiments in the villages of Rajib, Arjan, and Al-Wahadneh and works to replicate them to expand their benefits.

Monib Al-Samadi, President of the Farmers’ Union in Ajloun, stated that interest in organic farming has significantly increased in recent years, attributing this to farmers’ growing awareness of the importance of healthy products and the rising local demand for them.

He emphasized that many farmers in the governorate have gradually transitioned to this agricultural model due to its lower long-term costs and better market opportunities, noting that the union provides guidance, awareness, and technical support to encourage this shift.

Ibtisam Freihat, Vice President of the Rajib Valley Women’s Association, said the association has offered revolving loan programs to enable families and women to establish home-based organic farming projects, including vegetable cultivation and value-added rural products.

She added that these loans have helped many women secure a steady income and transform their agricultural skills into scalable projects, enhancing the role of the local community in supporting the rural economy.

Farmer Arabi Freihat, one of those who switched to organic farming, stated that his experience has shown that this agricultural method improves crop quality and reduces costs associated with chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

He explained that he began cultivating seasonal organic vegetables using organic compost and drip irrigation, noting that growing consumer demand has encouraged him to expand his project.
