Hijazin Inspects Tourist and Archaeological Sites in Ma’an Governorate
Dr. Emad Hijazin, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, visited several tourist and archaeological sites in Ma’an Governorate, including Shoubak District and Azraq Subdistrict, to review tourism services, assess site needs, and strengthen engagement with local communities.اضافة اعلان

Accompanied by Ma’an Governor Khalid Al-Hajjaj and Director-General of the Department of Antiquities Dr. Fawzi Abu Danna, the minister began his tour with a visit to Ma’an Castle, the heritage market, the King Abdullah I Palace, and the railway station, where he reviewed visitor services and ongoing development projects aimed at enhancing the tourist experience at these historical sites.

The minister then traveled to Azraq, visiting the visitor center and receiving briefings on efforts to upgrade the sites and prepare them to welcome tourists, in line with the ministry’s plans to support destinations in southern Jordan.

During his visit to Shoubak Castle, Hijazin, accompanied by the Italian Ambassador to Jordan, Luciano Pezzuti, and a team of specialists from the University of Florence, reviewed the restoration and conservation project being implemented by the Department of Antiquities in cooperation with the Italian university.

At Shoubak, the minister also met with local community representatives at the Shoubak Municipality building, alongside Governor Khalid Al-Hajjaj and the Municipality Committee Chairman, Engineer Mohammad Al-Naimat. Discussions focused on key challenges facing the tourism sector in the district, ways to develop existing projects, and strategies to enable local communities to benefit from the opportunities provided by the tourism industry.
