A total of 4,969 visitors visited Iraq Al-Amir during the first seven months of 2026, compared with 5,492 visitors during the same period in 2025, marking a 9.5% decline, according to preliminary data from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

The data showed that the number of Jordanian visitors reached 4,115, compared with 3,436 during the same period last year, representing an increase of 19.8%.
Meanwhile, the number of foreign visitors fell to 854, compared with 2,056 during the same period of 2025, a decline of 58.5%.
The data indicated that the increase in the number of Jordanian visitors did not offset the decline in foreign visitors, contributing to the overall decrease in visitor numbers to the site during the period under comparison.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities previously said that participation in the “Our Jordan Is Paradise” program is not limited to traditional tourist destinations, but has expanded to include newly added destinations, notably Iraq Al-Amir, Umm ar-Rasas and Rihab.
The program aims to promote domestic tourism and encourage citizens to explore tourist destinations across Jordan by offering diverse tourism experiences at subsidized prices suitable for different groups.
The program targets approximately 220,000 beneficiaries in 2026, with a focus on increasing trips to less-visited destinations and supporting areas that have been most affected by declines in visitor numbers due to current regional developments, particularly the city of Petra.
The program also plans to expand the participation of local businesses to more than 400 establishments, including restaurants, hotels and tourism experiences, in support of the local economy. It also includes more than 60 diverse tourism routes covering different parts of the Kingdom.
Under its updated format, the program allows participants to book directly and use their private vehicles for subsidized tourism experiences through the program's platform. It has also expanded eligibility to include Arab and foreign university students studying in Jordan, Palestinians from Gaza residing in the Kingdom, and children of Jordanian women and their spouses.
The program is implemented in partnership with tourism offices, tour guides, hotels, camps, tourist transportation providers and handicraft shops. The initiative aims to support the sustainability of the tourism sector, strengthen its readiness amid current regional circumstances, and empower local communities and enhance their role in the sector.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities subsidizes up to 60% of the cost of program trips. The program offers an integrated experience that includes free transportation on modern buses, accompanying tour guides and meals.
It also organizes monthly events and festivals across all governorates, featuring cultural activities, bazaars and local products, with the aim of stimulating tourism and economic activity.
