World Poetry Day kicks off in Mafraq

AMMAN — Mafraq’s poetry house on Sunday launched a three-day celebration commemorating World Poetry Day at the Department of National Library. The event is scheduled to run over the course of three days and will be attended by a number of poets and pioneers in the field. Director of the poetry house, Feisal Al-Sarhan, spoke at the event about poetry’s role in celebrating culture, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. اضافة اعلان


Oud player, Alaa Shahin, flutist, Nour Abu Haltam and singer, Yazid Al-Jayousi were among the headlining musicians during Sunday’s event. The poets read works that held humanitarian messages and addressed the dullness of daily routine. The venue also screened a film about the Mafraq Poetry House and its role in connecting poets and celebrating their achievements.
