The scientist Abbas Haddadin discovered a pad in the legs of a stick insect embedded in Jordanian amber, dating back 140 million years. This pad distinguishes it from other insects, as it helps the insect jump, climb surfaces, walk on them, hide among branches, and escape from predators. Around the pad, which ends at the tip of the tarsus, there are hairs and two spines.

As for the front legs, which are used for grasping and walking, they are less powerful than the hind legs. The presence of the pad in amber indicates that stick insects existed in Jordan, with one of them discovered in Jordanian amber dating back 140 million years. This insect lives in tropical regions and feeds on tree leaves.
