The U.S. Department of Labor reported that the world's largest economy added 178,000 jobs in March, following a loss of 133,000 in February. Consequently, the unemployment rate fell by 0.1 percentage points to 4.3%.

Friday's data far exceeded the expectations of analysts surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires and The Wall Street Journal, whose highest projections did not exceed 59,000 jobs.

President Trump hailed these figures as a success for his economic policies. Writing on his platform, Truth Social, he stated: "My economic policies have created a very powerful engine for economic growth, and nothing can slow it down," praising the number of jobs generated in the private sector.

Earlier, White House spokesperson Kush Desai stated that once the "short-term disruptions" caused by the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran conclude, "the American economic recovery will accelerate."

U.S. markets were closed on Friday in observance of Good Friday.

The U.S.-Israeli war on Iran has led to a sharp rise in oil prices and disrupted supply chains, sparking fears of a global economic slowdown. Analysts pointed to the need for caution, awaiting the full economic repercussions of the conflict.

Nancy Vanden Houten, lead economist at Oxford Economics, noted that while the data was stronger than expected, "it significantly overstates the pace of sustainable job growth."

She warned that the report "does not change our assessment that downside risks to the labor market have increased" due to the war. She added, "As the labor market softens as a result of the war's fallout, we expect a slight rise in the unemployment rate."
