The Department of Statistics issued its monthly report on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which recorded an increase of 1.86 percent during the first eight months of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024.اضافة اعلان

On a monthly level, the CPI rose by 1.32 percent in August compared with August 2024, but recorded a slight drop of 0.21 percent compared with July of the same year. The general CPI for the first eight months of 2025 stood at 112.60 points, compared with 110.54 points for the same period of 2024.

In August 2025, the CPI reached 112.63 points, compared with 111.17 points in August 2024, and 112.87 points in July 2025.

By commodity group, the CPI for the first eight months of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024 rose for:

Personal effects by 20.09%,

Tobacco and cigarettes by 12.58%,

Fruits and nuts by 8.42%,

Tea, coffee, and cocoa by 8.41%,

Spices, food enhancers, and other foods by 5.17%.

Meanwhile, it declined for:

Vegetables, legumes (dry and canned) by 3.28%,

Household utensils by 2.76%,

Furniture, carpets, and bedding by 2.69%,

Fish and seafood products by 1.97%.

The main groups contributing to the CPI rise in August 2025 compared with August 2024 were personal effects, tobacco and cigarettes, tea, coffee, and cocoa, fruits and nuts, and spices and food enhancers. The groups that helped limit the increase included vegetables and legumes, household utensils, fish and seafood products, and household appliances.

Compared with July 2025, the main groups that contributed to the decline in the CPI in August were fruits and nuts (down 4.92%), meat and poultry (-3.39%), fish and seafood products (-0.34%), health (-0.24%), and transportation (-0.23%).
