The decision followed the committee’s monthly meeting to set local fuel prices for the period from January 1 to January 31. The government directed that the price of kerosene be lowered to 590 fils per liter, down from 620 fils.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed global prices of crude oil and petroleum derivatives for December and compared them with prices recorded in November. The review showed a decline in global prices for gasoline (both 90 and 95 octane) and diesel.
After applying the pricing formula based on global prices to all petroleum derivatives, the committee found a decrease of 20 fils per liter for 90-octane gasoline, 25 fils per liter for 95-octane gasoline, and 60 fils per liter for diesel.
Accordingly, the committee decided to reduce the selling price of 90-octane gasoline to 830 fils per liter, down from 850 fils; reduce the price of 95-octane gasoline to 1,055 fils per liter, down from 1,080 fils; and lower the price of diesel to 645 fils per liter, down from 705 fils.
The committee also decided to keep the price of the 12.5-kilogram household gas cylinder unchanged at JOD 7 per cylinder.
