In a post on the "X" platform on Sunday evening, CENTCOM noted that the crew of the guided-missile destroyer USS John Finn continues to carry out its mission within the enforcement operations of the naval blockade on Iran.

It added that US forces are continuing their operations with caution, attaching photos of US military personnel carrying out their duties during the operation.

US President Donald Trump had announced on July 13 the reactivation of the US naval blockade on Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.

The confrontation between Washington and Tehran has entered its second week, following Trump's announcement on July 8 of the end of the ceasefire outlined in the memorandum of understanding signed on June 18.

Trump's announcement came after Iran targeted three commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran insists on imposing a mechanism to regulate the passage of vessels through the strategic waterway, while Washington demands what it claims to be the guarantee of freedom of navigation in the strait.

The escalation has caused disruptions to navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, threatening air traffic and energy supplies, amidst intermittent airspace closures and warnings of potential attacks on US facilities and interests outside the Middle East. — (Agencies)
