Barrot emphasized that "reopening the Strait of Hormuz is a top priority, as we have no intention of continuing to pay the price for a war that is not ours."

He added: "The Strait of Hormuz is located within international waters; it must be opened, and transit through it must be guaranteed without paying fees or facing extortion."

Barrot stressed the necessity for "both Iran and the United States to do everything in their power to reach an agreement to end the war."
