According to the presidential media office, as reported by state television, Al-Sharaa "is traveling to the United States of America to participate in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York."
Al-Sharaa, who assumed power after leading the opposition factions’ offensive that toppled Bashar al-Assad last December, will be the first Syrian president to address the General Assembly since Nour al-Din al-Atassi in 1967.
