AMMAN — Numerous
scuffles broke out on the University of Jordan (UJ) campus last month, local
media reported. As a result, UJ dean of Student Affairs Ismail Al-Zyoud issued
disciplinary measures against 14 students involved, local media outlets
reported.
The measures included
dismissals from the university for periods ranging from one semester to four,
depending on the case.
On Thursday, a different
fight broke out at UJ, and university President Nathir Obeidat said that an
internal investigation had been launched into the incident.
Videos on social media
circulated showing crowds of students throwing punches and flinging heavy
objects outside of different university buildings.
University spokesman
Muhammad Wasef told Ammon News that the brawls did not result in any injuries.
Obeidat added that the fight
was for personal reasons and had no relationship to the university.
“They will all receive the
punishment they deserve,” Obeidat said, stressing that the university administration would not be complacent about the incident.
