The Greater Amman Municipality announced a temporary closure of the top of Al-Mahatta Bridge to traffic in both directions to carry out maintenance work on the expansion joints, ensuring public safety and infrastructure sustainability.

The municipality indicated that this temporary closure will begin at 1:00 AM on Friday, July 17, and will continue until 8:00 AM on Saturday, July 18.
It explained that traffic during the closure period will be detoured as follows:
Traffic coming from Amman towards Zarqa: Head under Al-Mahatta Bridge towards the Equestrian (Al-Furousiya) intersection, turn right, then left towards King Abdullah I Street, go up onto Marka Bridge, and then onto Al-Jaish Street.
Traffic coming from Zarqa towards Amman: Head under Al-Mahatta Bridge to the traffic light, then continue straight to reach Al-Jaish Street (Downtown).
The Traffic Operations Department at the Greater Amman Municipality urges drivers to adhere to the traffic diversions and on-site instructions, and to cooperate with traffic officers and personnel at the location to ensure smooth traffic flow and everyone's safety. It confirmed that the bridge will be reopened as soon as the maintenance works are completed.
