Alaa Abu Jalqa got 83.55, while his sister, Malak got 91.3. The two live in a makeshift tent with their ailing mother and father who works as a vegetable vendor. To enable them to study for their exams, they built another makeshift tent next to the one they live in. Malak helped her brother study while taking care of her mother.

Both used the flashlight of an old cell phone to study at night. Happy with their achievements, they raised the Jordanian flag over their “study” tent. Now, however, despite their extraordinary achievement, the siblings have no idea how they are going to pay their way into university.
