Preliminary registration for Jordanians and residents of the Kingdom from the Gaza Strip wishing to perform Hajj in the 2027 season begins Sunday, according to Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites Mohammad Al-Khalayleh.
Al-Khalayleh said registration opens Sunday morning through the electronic Hajj registration platform and will continue until Sunday, September 27.
He called on those wishing to register and who meet the requirements to pay JD200 for the primary registrant only. The amount will be refundable after registration closes, at a date to be determined by the Hajj and Umrah Department, while accompanying persons are exempt from payment.
Payment can be made through eFAWATEERcom or by visiting a branch of the Jordan Islamic Bank or Safwa Islamic Bank.
He said registration requirements include that the primary registrant must have been born on or before December 31, 1980, and must not have performed Hajj previously.
Those selected will be required to submit a medical fitness certificate issued by the Ministry of Health confirming that they do not suffer from specified medical conditions, in accordance with the instructions of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
Disqualifying medical conditions include failure of a major organ, namely the heart, lungs, liver or kidneys, as well as neurological and psychiatric conditions that impair cognition or are accompanied by severe physical disabilities. They also include advanced age accompanied by dementia, pregnancy during the final two months, or high-risk pregnancy at any stage.
The conditions also include active cancer requiring chemotherapy, biological or radiation treatment, as well as active infectious diseases affecting public health, such as open tuberculosis (pulmonary TB).
Hajj Fund Savers
Regarding Hajj Fund savers, Al-Khalayleh explained that those who had accumulated JD3,000 in their accounts before January 1, 2021, are eligible to register through the fund’s website without paying any amount at registration.
For a woman wishing to travel with a male guardian (mahram), registration requires that she and her mahram have jointly accumulated JD6,000 before January 1, 2021, or that the mahram be a fund subscriber who meets the same requirements.
He stressed that Hajj Fund savers are not required to pay any amount upon registration.
