Speaking at a university admissions press conference held at the Ministry of Government Communication on Tuesday, Al-Khatib noted that the application process began last Thursday and will run through next Thursday. Over 58,000 applications have been received so far, while intermediate diploma applications—which opened on Sunday—have drawn over 15,000 applicants.
He explained that one of the primary challenges facing the ministry was re-digitizing and re-programming the unified admission software, noting: "The system is now structured around an academic track with six fields and a vocational track with ten specialties. It has been digitized with smart interface features to make it easier for students to navigate."
According to Al-Khatib, an additional 10,000 new students will benefit from the University Student Support Fund in the upcoming academic semester, following an extra allocation of 10 million JOD that brought the fund's total budget to 40 million JOD.
He also pointed out that applications for the royal beneficiary grant (Makruma) have opened after the list of eligible schools was published on the official website.
He added: "A total of 537 schools included in the royal grant are classified as schools with special circumstances regardless of pass rates, alongside 210 schools with varying pass percentages."
