The Ministry of Water and Irrigation / Water Authority stated on Tuesday that its inspection teams in the Internal Control Unit, in cooperation with the Basins Directorate and Central Workshops, and supported by the Ministry of Interior, the Public Security Directorate / Ma'an Police Directorate, Na'ur Police Center, and the Royal Administration for Environmental Protection, detected illegal tappings on main water pipelines in the Na'ur/Al-Rawda area and the Al-Muhammadiyah area in Ma'an as part of an ongoing crackdown on water theft.

In detail, four illegal connections were uncovered on large pipelines in the Na'ur/Al-Rawda area (2-inch and 1-inch in diameter) used to divert significant quantities of water to supply large farms, storage wells, and residential units. The illegal lines were disconnected, and official violation reports were filed to identify the property owners involved and initiate legal proceedings against them.
In the Al-Muhammadiyah area in Ma'an, five illegal tappings were detected supplying water storage tanks used for car wash sprinklers. The illegal lines were disconnected, 12 large storage tanks and 3 water pumps were confiscated, and official reports were drawn up to complete the necessary legal measures.
The Ministry/Water Authority reaffirmed that it is continuing its coordinated efforts with relevant security agencies to enforce control over water resources across all regions of the Kingdom and maintain general deterrence.
