The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, David van Veld, announced on Wednesday plans to sign a new agreement with Jordan valued at 31 million Jordanian dinars to enhance water desalination projects in Aqaba.اضافة اعلان

Van Veld confirmed, during joint press statements with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi in Amman, that the Netherlands is committed to providing an additional €100 million to support economic cooperation with Jordan in the coming years.

He explained that the Netherlands will work with Jordanian commercial and economic institutions to create new opportunities for both the public and private sectors in the two countries. “We aim to strengthen our efforts regarding migration and refugee reception, supporting Jordan in its prominent role in hosting refugees,” he stated.

The minister highlighted that cooperation will expand in the field of water management, noting Dutch expertise that can contribute to improving water management in Jordan.

Van Veld emphasized the deep diplomatic relations between the two countries, which span 75 years, and pointed out that the partnership will see further collaboration across various sectors in the coming period.

Regarding the Palestinian issue, he noted that Jordan has played an important role in promoting peace in the Gaza Strip through diplomatic efforts and humanitarian aid. He stressed the importance of maintaining the ceasefire and ensuring that both Israel and Hamas adhere to the agreements reached, calling for a permanent solution to the Palestinian issue through the two-state solution.

He also mentioned the role of regional countries in the next phase and urged the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and support for the reconstruction of homes damaged during the conflict.

Van Veld expressed his gratitude to Jordan for hosting a significant number of children from Gaza for medical treatment in Jordanian hospitals, considering it a testament to Jordan’s humanitarian efforts.

He concluded by noting that there are multiple joint channels between the two kingdoms that will continue to enhance cooperation in various fields.
