NAF spends JD750 million during 2019–2021

AMMAN — Some JD750 million were spent on the National Aid Fund’s main programs during 2019–2021, said NAF Assistant Secretary General Ayman Al-Rabaa. Al-Mamlaka TV said Rabaa said that 100,000 families benefit from NAF assistance, noting that the fund’s annual budget is estimated at JD100 million. The NAF is a financially and administratively independent institution, he said, adding that the government has expanded the social protection network through the unified cash support program, which targets 85,000 families and has a budget of JD100 million. According to Rabaa, the COVID-19 pandemic affected the family protection network, and was the reason for coming up with temporary programs, including Takaful and Takaful 2. Takaful 2 covered about 250,000 families, while another 160,000 families benefit from Takaful 3. The budget for both reached JD150 million.
