During a House session, Al-Talhouni explained that such agreements fall into two categories: extradition of persons, and transfer of persons sentenced to custodial penalties, in addition to legal and judicial cooperation between the two countries, stressing that the public interest of both states is taken into account in these agreements.

He clarified that the central authority designated by the signatory state under the agreements is the Ministry of Justice, in accordance with the provisions of the signed treaties, noting that the ministry is responsible for receiving documents, data, and papers from the requesting party and forwarding them to the relevant authorities, thereby acting as an intermediary in implementing these agreements.

Al-Talhouni also pointed out that the agreements stipulate the use of Arabic and Spanish, in addition to English as a neutral language in the event of any dispute between the two parties.

The minister emphasized that these agreements serve Jordan’s supreme national interest by facilitating the extradition and receipt of persons, enhancing judicial cooperation and mutual legal assistance, and enabling some Jordanians to serve their prison sentences inside the Kingdom rather than abroad.
