During the launch ceremony, Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, Chairman of the Greater Amman Municipality Committee, stated that the “Green Route” represents a major step toward achieving more sustainable public transport in Amman. He noted that the introduction of electric buses for the first time on this route underscores the municipality’s commitment to implementing the vision of Amman as a smart, eco-friendly city.

Al-Shawarbeh added that the “Green Route” is part of the city’s broader transition to sustainable transport solutions, as the use of electric buses helps reduce emissions and operational costs. He also highlighted that the buses are equipped with smart services such as free Wi-Fi, surveillance systems, electronic payment options, and special facilities for people with disabilities, all of which enhance the comfort and safety of passengers.

He emphasized that the route’s starting point at the Raghadan Tourist Complex will help revitalize the area and enhance its role in improving public transport services within the capital.

It is worth noting that the electric buses were partially funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The new route will operate throughout the day, with trips running every 20 minutes between Raghadan Complex and Sweileh Station, from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.
