Mohammad Abu Zaytoun, Executive Director of the Amman Neighborhoods and Tourism Pathways Development Project, explained that the fourth phase includes the expansion of the upper section of Al-Jaish Street. GAM will remove all violations and buildings located within the street’s regulatory boundaries after completing all legal procedures and ensuring public safety.

He added that GAM has provided compensation to owners of structures slated for removal, including housing allowances and evacuation compensation for each apartment or shop owner or tenant. Additional evacuation allowances have also been offered to neighboring households to ensure public safety until demolition work is completed.

Humanitarian cases among families notified of eviction have been considered, with measures taken to avoid displacement during the school semester to ensure students’ education is not disrupted.

Abu Zaytoun noted that the fourth phase will be completed within three months.

The project, of which three phases have already been completed, aims to improve traffic flow on Al-Jaish Street and Rafifan Al-Majali Street, establish new infrastructure for the area including sidewalks, lighting, and rainwater drainage, in addition to public squares, parking lots, and urban open spaces. It also includes beautification works along Al-Jaish Street, as well as the creation of Al-Mahatta Park and playground.
