According to a ministry statement issued on Sunday, the project forms part of a broader maintenance program for major roads in the Southern Region, including the Karak–Qatraneh Road, the Royal Sidewalk Road (Al-Raseef Al-Malouki), and the Badia Road, in addition to the construction of the Kathraba–Jordan Valley Road, which extends 4 kilometers.

The ministry said the project is scheduled to be completed within 300 days at an estimated cost of approximately JOD 4 million.

The works include:

* Milling the existing asphalt surface.
* Laying new asphalt layers and carrying out pavement repairs.
* Repainting road markings.
* Installing and upgrading traffic safety features.
* Protecting water infrastructure.
* Improving stormwater drainage systems.

All works will be carried out in accordance with the highest approved engineering specifications and technical standards.

Regarding traffic management, the ministry said temporary diversions will be implemented in coordination with the Traffic Department and the External Patrols Department under a phased traffic plan designed to maintain smooth traffic flow. The temporary routes will be fully equipped with the necessary traffic safety measures and warning signs.

Construction activities will take place daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The ministry noted that it recently completed the scheduled maintenance works on the Karak–Qatraneh Road in line with the approved project timetable.

Motorists were urged to comply with traffic signs and warning instructions at construction sites, follow the directions of ministry personnel and traffic police, and observe safe driving practices to ensure the safety of both road users and workers and to facilitate the timely completion of the project.
