Safadi and Abdel Aaty affirmed the depth of the close historical relations and strong fraternal bonds between the two brotherly countries, which continue to grow stronger and more advanced, reflecting their mutual commitment to enhance and develop these ties toward broader cooperation across various fields.
The two ministers discussed regional developments, foremost among them the situation in Gaza. They stressed the need to adhere to the ceasefire agreement and to fully implement its provisions in accordance with U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan, ensure the adequate, sustainable, and immediate entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip without obstacles, and pave the way for the return of the Palestinian National Authority to assume its responsibilities in Gaza. They also emphasized preserving the unity of Palestinian territory between the West Bank and Gaza, and moving toward a clear political horizon that realizes an independent, sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the two-state solution in line with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Safadi and Abdel Aaty renewed their welcome of the formation of the Palestinian National Committee to administer the Gaza Strip, the announcement of the launch of the second phase of the comprehensive peace plan, and U.S. President Donald Trump’s establishment of the Peace Council.
They also affirmed their commitment to supporting the implementation of the Peace Council’s mandate as a transitional body, as outlined in the comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza and as endorsed by United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 2803.
The two ministers warned of the dangers posed by Israel’s illegal measures in the occupied West Bank, which risk igniting the situation, undermining all de-escalation efforts, and eroding prospects for achieving a just peace based on the two-state solution as the sole path to security, stability, and lasting peace in the region.
They also discussed a number of issues of mutual interest and affirmed the continuation of joint efforts and coordination in a manner that contributes to consolidating security and stability in the region and serving Arab causes.
