During the discussions, Al-Adaileh presented Jordan’s position on the issues on the session’s agenda and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s support for just Arab causes, foremost among them the Palestinian cause. He also highlighted Jordan’s political, diplomatic, legal and humanitarian efforts in support of the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people.

In this context, the Arab League Council welcomed Jordan’s hosting of the ministerial meeting in support of Jerusalem and its holy sites on August 5 in Amman. The meeting aimed to confront illegal Israeli policies and measures in Jerusalem, while the council stressed the importance of following up on the implementation of the recommendations and outcomes of the “Amman Declaration” issued at the meeting.

Al-Adaileh highlighted Jordan’s active role, alongside member states, in reaching decisions and recommendations aimed at strengthening the Arab position and enhancing collective coordination and cooperation. These efforts seek to bolster Arab capacity to address current challenges and the instability affecting the region as a result of war and its consequences, including security and economic repercussions.

He also stressed the rejection of attacks on the territories and sovereignty of Arab states, as well as any interference in Arab affairs.

Regarding Jordanian contributions and initiatives aimed at addressing the humanitarian and legal repercussions of wars under the current circumstances and strengthening mechanisms to protect civilians, the Kingdom proposed hosting a high-level international conference on the Initiative to Strengthen Political Commitment to International Humanitarian Law during the final quarter of this year.

The initiative received the support and endorsement of Arab member states, which also praised Jordan’s continued role in regional and international forums in promoting states’ collective commitment to respecting international humanitarian law and coordinating efforts to protect civilians from wars and armed conflicts.

The meeting of Arab permanent representatives is being held as part of preparations for the Arab League Council’s ministerial-level meeting, during which agenda items for the session will be discussed and recommendations and draft resolutions will be submitted to foreign ministers.

The foreign ministers are scheduled to meet the day after tomorrow, Monday, as part of the regular 166th session of the Arab League Council.
