Jordan, Russia want Mideast Quartet activated

AMMAN — Foreign Minister Ayman Al-Safadi and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov met on Thursday to discuss the endeavor to put an end to the escalation in occupied Jerusalem, Gaza, and Palestinian territories. اضافة اعلان

Both ministers prepared for tomorrow's UN security council session to discuss the dangerous situation in Palestine. 

Safadi and Lavrov stressed the importance of stopping the escalation and Israeli violations and the aggression against Gaza. 

Both agreed that the latest escalation indicates the danger of not having political potential and the necessity of finding ways to achieve a two-state solution

Safadi expressed the significance of preserving the religious and historic status quo in Jerusalem and Israeli forces are responsible for it as it is the occupying force. 

He also said that the expulsion of residents in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood would be a crime that must be prevented.

The ministers stressed the importance of the international quartet, and that it must be held as soon as possible to return to efforts aiming to resolve the conflict. 

Safadi and Lavrov agreed that coordination must continue to stop the escalation and concentrate powers to find a solution.
