AMMAN — Jordan on Thursday strongly condemned the Israeli occupation authorities' issuance of tenders to construct 1,234 settlement units as part of the "E1" settlement project east of occupied Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates characterized the step as a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, as well as a clear breach of the Palestinian people's inalienable right to self-determination, an end to the occupation, and the establishment of an independent, sovereign state along the June 4, 1967 lines with occupied Jerusalem as its capital.
The Ministry’s official spokesperson, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, affirmed the Kingdom's absolute rejection and condemnation of the settlement project. He stated that the Israeli government's continuation of its settlement expansion plans in the occupied West Bank entrenches the occupation, undermines international efforts toward a two-state solution, and violates international legitimacy resolutions—specifically UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which condemns all Israeli measures aimed at altering the demographic composition, character, and status of the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem.
Al-Majali also referenced the International Court of Justice (ICJ) advisory opinion, which reaffirmed the illegality of the Israeli occupation, the invalidity of settlement construction, and the unlawfulness of measures aimed at annexing occupied West Bank territory.
Reiterating that Israel holds no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory, Al-Majali warned against the Israeli government's continued expansionist settlement policies and illegal practices in the occupied West Bank.
He urged the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities by compelling Israel to cease its unlawful expansionist measures and fulfill the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on their national soil.
