The Jordanian Company for the Development of Cities and Facilities announced on Saturday the approval of the final designs and the launch of engineering, construction, and technical planning works for the Amra International Convention and Exhibition Center project. The center is set to become a new destination for major events and exhibitions in Jordan and forms part of the first phase of the Amra City development project.

According to a company statement, the center—expected to be the largest of its kind in the Kingdom—will feature 16,000 square meters of exhibition space and 12,000 square meters dedicated to conferences, serving a wide range of economic, commercial, and other sectors.

The facility will accommodate approximately 15,000 visitors at a time and will include major conference halls, meeting rooms, event venues, supporting service facilities, and hundreds of parking spaces. The estimated cost of the project is around JOD 50 million.

The design is based on comprehensive economic and technical feasibility studies and will be developed in accordance with the highest sustainability standards. It will incorporate modern digital technologies and advanced operational systems, enabling the center to host multiple events simultaneously with high efficiency.

The project is expected to strengthen Jordan’s position in conference, exhibition, event, and international summit tourism, particularly given its strategic location near international highways, Queen Alia International Airport, and the Al-Omari and Jaber border crossings.

The tender for the construction phase is expected to be issued by the end of the third quarter of this year, with completion scheduled for the end of 2027.

The announcement follows ongoing work on the first phase of Amra City, including the launch of site preparation and excavation works for the Hussein bin Abdullah II International Stadium, as part of a broader effort to reinforce Jordan’s position as a leading regional destination for sports, tourism, and investment.

The company noted that extensive consultations were held with private-sector experts and specialists to ensure that the project’s design meets market needs and can accommodate the requirements of both local and international exhibitions and conferences.

The Jordanian Company for the Development of Cities and Facilities is wholly owned by the government and operates under the umbrella of the Jordan Investment Fund. The company is responsible for overseeing project implementation, facilitating development stages, promoting investment opportunities, engaging with investors, and building partnerships to attract local and foreign investment to the Amra City project.
