AMMAN —
Minister of public works, housing,
and transport, Ahmad Maher Abul Samen, stated that feasibility studies for
establishing a railway line between
Amman and Aqaba will be delivered to the
ministry by the end of next month. This will present the project for discussion
before the government, which will make an appropriate decision based on the
study results.

Abu Samen considered the high-frequency bus
project between
Amman and Zarqa to be one of the most significant projects of
the Ministry of Transport. This project allows for new means of
transport between Jordan’s cities, and could be seen as an early example of future
national transport infrastructure.
Abu Samen added in an interview with Oman
TV, that the transportation sector is especially challenging and requires
significant and continuous effort. While the Ministry of Transport has a clear
vision for updating and a strategic plan with defined goals, there have been obstacles
in achieving some of those goals and will continue to be so.
