Al-Jarrah ruled out opening sales today due to the large crowds lining up to purchase the oil, noting that sales will instead take place on Sunday after distributing queue numbers to prevent congestion.

On Friday, the Civil Consumer Corporation announced the arrival of quantities of Tunisian olive oil, stating in a previous post that the product would be available on its shelves starting Saturday at 9:00 a.m., in 5-liter containers priced at 21 Jordanian dinars.

Al-Jarrah added that the oil quantities have been distributed across the corporation’s branches, with around 100 containers still to be allocated. He also mentioned that large shipments are expected to arrive in Jordan from multiple sources, with the same quality and price.

He emphasized that the corporation will continue importing olive oil to meet demand.

Al-Jarrah described the congestion witnessed today as unacceptable, stressing that the corporation will implement a mechanism to organize queue distribution.

He confirmed that sales will be limited to those holding queue numbers and reiterated that number distribution will continue. If available quantities run out, customers may return with the same number to purchase when new shipments arrive.

“We are contracted with more than one company to import the oil. There is no need for panic buying. Both the civil and military consumer institutions are contracted for large quantities, and the price will remain the same,” Al-Jarrah said.
