AMMAN — Head of the Jordanian Bus Owners Syndicate Abdul Razzaq Khashman criticized the Ministry of Transport and its minister, Wajih Al-Azaizeh, for refusing to meet with the syndicate to consult on the conditions of the sector and ways of supporting operators, Jo24 reported. “We have heard through social media that there was a subsidy that would be provided to the transportation sector, but we were not briefed on the mechanism and how it would be distributed.” Khashman said. Noting that the mechanism leaked by the ministry is neither fit for purpose or the result of any logical study, he said that the ministry wants to support coaster buses in the amount of JD70 per month and JD100 for large buses, which he said would be insufficient. Khashman called on the ministry to reconsider the passenger transport tariff established in 2018 due to high bus prices and other operating costs.
