British Ambassador welcomes home Jordan’s Chevening Scholars

AMMAN — The British Ambassador to Jordan, Bridget Brind OBE, hosted a Welcome Back Event in honor of returning Jordanian Chevening Scholars on Wednesday afternoon, according to a British Embassy press statement.اضافة اعلان

The Chevening Scholarship is the UK’s flagship scholarship scheme. It supports future leaders by offering talented Jordanians the opportunity to enhance their skills and build their expertise in areas vital for Jordan’s future, the statement said.

At the event, the ambassador congratulated the awardees on the successful completion of their scholarship under challenging circumstances during the COVID-19 pandemic and the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

“We are delighted to celebrate the success of our returning Chevening Scholars of 2021 and 2022,” said Brind. “They have advanced their qualifications and skills in a variety of fields in world-class British universities under unprecedented circumstances around the COVID pandemic. I’m inspired by their determination and resilience to succeed.”

“We are delighted that Jordanian Chevening Scholars and UK Alumni hold a range of senior positions across government, business, and civil society. Our goal is to support those who are working to help Jordan reach its full potential.”
“I’m proud that Chevening Scholars have returned as future leaders to grow Jordan across a wide range of fields, including development, climate change, entrepreneurship, politics, energy, gender equality, and more,” she continued.

“We look forward to continuing to support their careers through our global alumni network and we are delighted that Jordanian Chevening Scholars and UK Alumni hold a range of senior positions across government, business, and civil society. Our goal is to support those who are working to help Jordan reach its full potential."

The Chevening award is the UK government’s global scholarship scheme. Since 1983, Chevening has helped to build bridges with more than 160 different countries and territories, supporting the education and development of future leaders, influencers, and decision-makers across the world, according to the statement.
