AMMAN — European Day of Languages returned to the Abdali Boulevard on Saturday, an event that was called off last year due to the pandemic and which is organized by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) and the EU.اضافة اعلان

EUNIC is a cluster of European embassies and cultural centers that work together to promote European languages and culture. It was started in Jordan in 2012 with the aim of supporting cultural and creative industries in Jordan.
The event had multiple stations offering activities such as mini language classes, screenings of short films, musical performances, and a VR experience.

The short films hailed from multiple European countries, while the musical performances included choreographed dances and karaoke. For the first time ever there was a virtual reality experience.

“In the past we have hosted the European Day of Languages at the Haya Cultural Center, it is a great venue however, we wanted a location that is easily accessible to families and students in grade school and universities and at the Boulevard that is easily gained,” Tala Al-Sayid, the project manager for EUNIC told Jordan News.

The European Day of Languages aims to build a two-way cultural bridge between different cultures and bring awareness to the difference in cultures for people who are interested or who have not experienced them before.
“In our workshops and events we focus on the educational elements and we try to promote exchange as well,” Sayid added.

In addition to the European Day of Languages, EUNIC has two other events being held this year.

In two, the fourth addition of Rise Talent Contest will start. The contest is a talent show containing four categories: dance, music, art, and singing.
Lastly, the second addition of the Comic Weeks is slated for November. The event was started last year, and will last for 2 weeks this year.
