Amman — The pause in the Pro League competitions, which officially begins today and continues until the 6th of next month, represents an important opportunity for teams' technical staffs to rearrange their cards and evaluate the past stage, which saw teams play 3 rounds, showing varying levels and results that revealed a great deal about strengths and weaknesses.

As usual, the coach appears to be "the weakest link and the first victim" whenever results decline, with arrows of criticism quickly directed at him, while fans play an influential role in pressuring for and demanding his dismissal, before administrations often respond to this pressure, without fully bearing their own responsibility for the decisions they made before the season began, whether in choosing the coach, signing players, or building the squad. With every setback, changing the technical staff becomes the easiest solution, even though responsibility for results is typically shared between management, the technical staff, and the players.
The pause carries added importance for technical staffs, as it gives coaches the chance to review the three matches their teams have played, identify technical and tactical mistakes, and work on correcting them, alongside raising players' physical and technical readiness, especially players signed late, who haven't had enough opportunity to reach the required level of cohesion with their teammates.
The current period also represents a suitable space for coaches to strengthen cohesion among players, experiment with more than one tactical option, and settle on the ideal lineup suited to the nature of the upcoming stage, after most players got the chance to play during the past three weeks, giving technical staffs a clearer picture of their players' abilities, and each player's capacity to fulfill the roles required of him.
A number of teams need to make the most of the pause, especially those that haven't shown the expected level in the first three rounds, or that suffered from inconsistent results and performance, as the opportunity is now open for them to rebuild the team technically, and address the gaps that appeared in past matches, before returning to competition starting from the fourth round.
Al-Hussein Irbid, last season's treble winners, and Al-Wehdat, are among the teams standing to benefit most from the current pause, given the changes made to both technical staffs, after parting ways with coaches Ahmad Hayel and Wassim Al-Bzour, and searching for two new technical staffs to lead the teams through the coming period.
The pause, in this case, represents a glimmer of hope for Al-Hussein Irbid's and Al-Wehdat's administrations, to bring in new coaches as quickly as possible, and give them a good stretch of time to get to know the players' abilities, evaluate the team technically, and set out the necessary vision for the coming stage, alongside working to implement training and tactical ideas before competitions resume.
The new coach's early arrival will be an important factor for both teams, especially since a coach needs sufficient time to get to know his players' abilities, identify his technical needs, and choose the lineup he believes capable of executing his ideas, away from the pressure of official matches and the tight timeframe that usually accompanies a technical change during the season.
The third round's results also gave a number of coaches an extra chance to catch their breath, after their names had been in the circle of criticism and talk of possible changes to technical staffs, before the latest results gave them a fresh chance to work and correct course. This opportunity seems important for coaches who oversaw the preparation and signing phase since the start of the season and are now required to make the most of the pause, by addressing the mistakes that appeared in past matches, raising players' physical level, improving collective performance, and reaching a more stable lineup before returning to competitive action.
National coach Ashraf Ghazwan believes the current pause has come at an important time, giving technical staffs a chance to review what their teams delivered in the first three rounds, away from the pressure of back-to-back matches.
He added, speaking to Al Ghad: "There are teams that signed players late, and these players need more time to gel, so the pause is very important so the technical staff can prepare them physically and technically, and give them a better chance to settle into the team's system."
He continued: "The coach also needs time to try more than one option, especially since official matches don't always give him enough room to experiment, so friendly matches and training sessions during the pause can be used to settle on the right lineup and approach."
He added: "After 3 rounds, the picture has become clearer for technical staffs, and the coach now has a better sense of his players' level and the mistakes the team made, so this period should be used for work, not just for rest. The pause also gives coaches a chance to reconsider certain choices, whether regarding the lineup or the style of play, especially after teams have played three official matches, which is enough to identify plenty of observations."
