Japanese striker Kazuyoshi Miura has continued to break records in his country, becoming the oldest player to appear in a match in Japan's third-tier league. The 59-year-old came on from the bench in the stoppage time of his team Fukushima United's 4-1 win over visitors FC Ryukyu.اضافة اعلان

Miura, known as "King Kazu," came on in added time at the age of 59 years, eight months and 12 days, extending his own record in the Japanese league over a career that spans 42 seasons.

It is the striker's first appearance in a league match since 2021, when he played one game for Yokohama FC in Japan's J1 League.

He also played in six matches during a mini-tournament held at the end of last season, although these were not classed as official league matches.

The former Japan international, whose professional career has now spanned five decades, scored in a Emperor's Cup match last July, ending a four-year goal drought.

Miura also became the oldest player to score in the history of the Emperor's Cup, after converting two penalties that helped his team Fukushima United to a 7-0 thrashing of amateur side Oyama in August.
