This article addresses those who have disregarded international law as the cornerstone for global peace, human dignity, and Human Rights. It particularly focuses on Western politicians who, despite their knowledge of international law, continue to overlook Israel's explicit occupation of Palestine and its subsequent repercussions. These politicians not only neglect these violations but also publicly support its continuation.اضافة اعلان

The evident inconsistencies displayed by significant Western nations such as the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and Canada undermine international law's effectiveness and standing in global affairs.

Resist and seek self-determination
Numerous international documents affirm the right of a people under foreign occupation to resist and seek self-determination. The Charter of the United Nations highlights this right as a fundamental right and emphasizes the sovereignty of every nation. The International Covenants on Civil, Political Rights, Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights echo this sentiment. For instance, Article 1 of both covenants proclaims that every nation possesses the right to determine its political fate.
While Palestinians have the right, anchored in these global principles, to resist Israeli occupation, major Western nations continuously back the Israeli occupation, contravening international legal and Human Rights benchmarks.
Furthermore, the UN General Assembly has passed resolutions in 1960, 1970, and 1974, all of which reinforce the rights of peoples under occupation or colonial rule. The Geneva Conventions also amplify the rights of such peoples to solicit and obtain support in their quest for self-determination.

The most important resolution was issued by the General Assembly in November 1974, which affirmed the legitimacy of the struggle of peoples for independence, territorial integrity, national unity, and liberation from colonial and foreign control and foreign occupation by all available means, including armed struggle.

Palestinians have the right to resist Israeli occupation
While Palestinians have the right, anchored in these global principles, to resist Israeli occupation, major Western nations continuously back the Israeli occupation, contravening international legal and Human Rights benchmarks.

Such hypocrisy regarding international law fosters an atmosphere of contempt for international law and agreements, diminishing the universal pledge to peace and justice. The ramifications of this attitude have been and remain devastating.

The hypocrisy is evident
This hypocrisy is evident at the present time as these countries collectively support the right of the Ukrainian people to defend their lands and rights; at the same time this group of countries supports the continuation of the Israel to perpetuate its occupation of Palestine and insult the dignity of its people.

The Palestinian endeavor for justice and self-determination under international human rights conventions underscores the imperative of consistently upholding justice globally, devoid of strategic or political biases. The contradictory stance of prominent Western nations not only belittles the suffering of the subjugated but also erodes the pillars of international law.

The theme of double standards
The Palestinian issue exemplifies the broader theme of global "double standards". When major Western nations, purporting to champion international law, blatantly ignore Israeli infractions and even justify them as self-defense, it undermines confidence in international entities and diminishes the essence of international law.

The support toward the Israeli occupation by Western countries is arguably a manifestation of a colonial superiority mindset over non-Western civilizations and people. It seems they honor international law and human rights only when convenient for their geopolitical pursuits.
Such hypocrisy regarding international law fosters an atmosphere of contempt for international law and agreements, diminishing the universal pledge to peace and justice. The ramifications of this attitude have been and remain devastating.
It is crucial for the international community, especially the influential Western nations, to introspect and realign their stances with the values they profess to champion. The sanctity of international agreements, faith in global institutions, and more vitally, the Palestinians' right to self-determination and their very lives hinge on this alignment.
