"I was deeply disappointed in President Putin," Trump told reporters during a stop at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
"I thought he meant what he said."

Trump made the remarks while announcing a new military support package for Ukraine, confirming that the United States will be sending Patriot air defense missiles to bolster Kyiv’s defense against ongoing Russian attacks.

He declined to specify the number of Patriot systems or missiles to be delivered but confirmed that “some” will be sent.

“Putin speaks nicely, then bombs people in the dark of night,” Trump added, highlighting his disillusionment with the Russian president’s recent actions.

The decision to supply Ukraine with additional air defense systems signals a notable shift in Trump's stance, as previous aid efforts to Kyiv were met with mixed messages from Washington. This move is expected to reinforce Ukraine’s air shield as it continues to defend against missile and drone attacks targeting critical infrastructure and civilian areas.

The announcement comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions and ongoing negotiations aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, now in its third year.
