Jordanian Civil Defense firefighting teams deployed in Syria have successfully contained forest fires within their designated areas of responsibility, following intensive operations coordinated with the Royal Jordanian Air Force.

The Civil Defense teams executed a systematic ground response strategy, supported by aerial interventions from Royal Jordanian Air Force pilots. Their operational plan focused first on containing fire spread to new areas, followed by suppression and cooling measures to prevent flare-ups, while swiftly addressing smaller fires reignited by strong winds.
Among the main challenges encountered, Commander of the Jordanian Civil Defense mission in Syria, Lieutenant Colonel Muhannad Ajrami, cited difficult terrain, high wind speeds, and the presence of unexploded ordnance. He noted that these obstacles were mitigated through the expertise of specialized Jordanian teams with extensive field experience, who also shared their knowledge with other participating forces as part of what he described as Jordan’s humanitarian commitment toward the Syrian people.
The Jordanian teams are operating alongside the Syrian Civil Defense and firefighting contingents from other friendly nations. Ajrami underscored the critical role played by Royal Jordanian Air Force pilots in harmonized coordination with ground operations to ensure effective fire suppression.
He affirmed the high morale and well-being of the deployed personnel, expressing gratitude for the ongoing support and attention from His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah.
Ajrami noted that recent remarks by Crown Prince Al Hussein on his personal social media account had a significant motivational impact on the officers and non-commissioned officers involved, reinforcing their determination to continue their humanitarian mission.
He also conveyed appreciation to Jordanians for their supportive messages and expressions of national solidarity, reflecting a strong spirit of unity and backing for the humanitarian efforts of the Civil Defense teams.
