Head of the Bakers’ Owners Syndicate, Abdul Ilah Al-Hamwi, said the syndicate has not received any complaints related to bread availability across all regions of the Kingdom. He noted that increased public awareness and the accuracy of meteorological forecasts have led to the disappearance of the rush on bakeries that used to occur ahead of weather depressions.
Al-Hamwi pointed out that demand for sweets increased during the low-pressure system despite weak purchasing power among citizens, stressing that “Jordan’s wheat reserves are sufficient and there are no problems in supplying flour” to bakeries.
For his part, Head of the Syndicate of Fuel Station Owners, Gas Storage Facilities, and Agencies, Nahar Al-Saedat, said the syndicate has not received any complaints regarding fuel shortages during the current low-pressure system. He attributed this to the sector’s benefit from past years’ experiences, in addition to the preparation of an action plan with the Petroleum Refinery to ensure gas availability across all regions of the Kingdom.
Al-Saedat added that gas consumption during the low-pressure system reached 200,000 cylinders per day, noting that the number of cylinders sold during last December reached five million.
He also pointed out that gas is the most widely used heating source among citizens, followed by electricity, adding that it is difficult to accurately count daily kerosene sales due to fuel distribution to stations at staggered intervals.
