"Psychological Warfare": Ankara Denies Downing U.S. Fighter Jet in Iran with Turkish Systems
The Center for Combating Disinformation, operating under the Turkish Presidency's Directorate of Communications, has issued a categorical denial regarding widespread allegations of a Turkish role in the downing of a U.S. F-15E fighter jet in Iranian territory using Turkish air defense systems.اضافة اعلان

Allegations on Social Media
According to the Anadolu Agency, claims circulated on social media platforms suggesting that "Turkey provided Iran with advanced air defense systems and anti-drone missiles." These reports further alleged that the American fighter jet, which went down last Friday, was targeted by a "Turkish-made man-portable air defense system (MANPADS)."

Official Turkish Response
The official denial was issued on Saturday evening. The Center for Combating Disinformation emphasized that these claims are "entirely baseless and do not reflect the truth."

The statement described the allegations as:

"Deliberate psychological warfare" intended to undermine Turkey’s constructive role in resolving regional crises.

"Smear campaigns" aimed at tarnishing Turkey's internationally recognized diplomatic successes and misleading global public opinion.

Turkish authorities clarified that Ankara's position is firmly rooted in maintaining regional peace and stability. The Center urged the public to disregard such "misinformation designed to manipulate public opinion and destabilize the delicate balance in the region."

Status of the U.S. Aircraft and Crew
Last Friday, the U.S. military acknowledged the loss of an F-15E Strike Eagle over Iranian territory. According to the Associated Press, one pilot was initially rescued. On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the second pilot had also been successfully recovered.

Regional Context
These developments occur amidst ongoing military escalation in the region. Since February 28, 2026, Israel and the United States have been engaged in a war against Iran that has resulted in thousands of Iranian casualties. In response, Tehran has launched missiles and drones toward Israel.

Furthermore, Iran has targeted what it describes as "U.S. interests" within various Arab countries, resulting in casualties and damage to civilian facilities—actions that have been condemned by the targeted nations.
