According to the statement: “On October 3, 2025, the President of the Republic of Poland and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Karol Nawrocki, signed a decree authorizing the use of units and divisions of the Polish Armed Forces to support the Border Guard.”
Polish military units will be deployed from October 5, 2025, to April 4, 2026, “to ensure the integrity of national borders, as well as security and public order within border crossing points and in the border area along Poland’s national borders with the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Lithuania.”
The statement did not specify the composition or number of troops to be sent.
It is noteworthy that Poland had resumed border checks with Germany and Lithuania on July 7.
During these inspections, border guards—supported by police and the military—are authorized to stop vehicles for random checks and to verify citizens’ documents.
Currently, inspections are being carried out at 52 locations along the Polish-German border and at 13 locations along the Polish-Lithuanian border. –Agencies
