North Korean leader Kim Jong Un supervised a test launch of a long-range strategic cruise missile over the sea, according to the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

KCNA reported on Monday that during the missile exercise conducted on Sunday, Kim called for the “unlimited and sustainable” development of the country’s nuclear capabilities. This appears to be the first test of its kind since early November.
South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency stated that the South Korean military detected multiple missile launches from the Sunan area near Pyongyang.
The North Korean news agency said the operation aimed to review the “counter-offensive response status and combat capability of long-range missile sub-units.” Kim emphasized that the government and ruling party would continue their full efforts toward the “unlimited and sustainable development of the state’s nuclear force.”
Earlier, North Korea conducted a ballistic missile test on 6 November, shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump expressed interest in meeting Kim during his regional tour, a proposal to which Pyongyang did not respond.
In recent years, North Korea has significantly increased its missile testing, which analysts say aims to enhance precision strike capabilities, challenge the United States and South Korea, and potentially test weapons for export to Russia.
Since the failure of the 2019 summit with Trump on denuclearization, North Korea has consistently stated that it will never relinquish its nuclear arsenal. (Agencies)
