According to the Indian news agency on Tuesday, 61 fatalities were due to rain-related incidents such as landslides and severe flooding, while 44 others died in road accidents caused by the excessive rainfall.
The torrential rains also caused widespread damage to both public and private property, in addition to inflicting harm on roads, agricultural crops, livestock, and infrastructure.
It’s worth noting that the monsoon season, which runs from June to September in South Asia, typically helps lower temperatures and replenish water supplies—but in recent years, it has also brought increased destruction through landslides and floods.
