UNRWA: Thousands of Displaced in Gaza Struggle to Find Safe Shelter
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported on Wednesday that thousands of forcibly displaced people in Gaza are struggling to secure safe shelter as cold weather approaches, amid the ongoing consequences of Israel’s two-year-long campaign of mass destruction in the territory.اضافة اعلان

According to UNRWA’s official website, many displaced families have no choice but to live in makeshift tents, with additional shelter materials urgently needed. More than 79,000 displaced persons are currently residing in 85 UNRWA-run shelters across Gaza, facing worsening humanitarian conditions as winter nears.

United Nations spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric warned on Tuesday evening that displaced Palestinian families in Gaza are at serious risk of flooding in poorly constructed shelters. He emphasized that residents are “highly vulnerable” due to harsh weather conditions, while ongoing Israeli restrictions continue to hinder the delivery of critical aid and obstruct the work of relief organizations.

Recent heavy rainfall caused dozens of displaced families’ tents in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, southern Gaza, to flood, raising fears of a growing humanitarian disaster.

UNRWA has highlighted that Gaza requires approximately 300,000 tents and prefabricated housing units to meet basic shelter needs, following the destruction of infrastructure over the past two years.
