Israel’s official broadcasting authority stated: “Three army divisions fighting in Gaza City began evacuating their forces from the city and the refugee camps on its outskirts last night.”
Early Thursday, Trump announced that Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” had agreed on the first phase of his plan to end the war and exchange prisoners.
The authority reported concerns over potential clashes with Palestinians seeking to return north today, adding that the forces are preparing to withdraw from the city and its outskirts and will redeploy to the “yellow line.”
The yellow line is the first withdrawal point stipulated in Trump’s plan.
The Israeli government is expected to approve the agreement on Thursday, paving the way for its implementation, including a gradual withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
In recent weeks, the Israeli army had announced through several statements that three divisions were operating in Gaza City and its surroundings.
With U.S. support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 8, 2023, leaving 67,183 martyrs and 169,841 wounded, most of them children and women, in addition to famine that has claimed the lives of 460 Palestinians, including 154 children.
Israel has for decades occupied Palestine and territories in Syria and Lebanon, and continues to reject withdrawal and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the pre-1967 borders.
