Israeli media reported a major security incident early Saturday morning in the Shujaiya neighborhood, located in northern Gaza.
According to the reports, the Israeli military deployed helicopters to the scene during the incident and fired artillery shells in response.

An Israeli military vehicle was reportedly directly hit by an anti-tank missile, resulting in a rising number of injuries among the soldiers. Several of the wounded were evacuated by helicopter to Tel Hashomer Hospital in central Israel.
The incident follows a Thursday announcement by Hamas’s Al-Qassam Brigades, claiming they inflicted casualties on two Israeli units—totaling 19 soldiers killed or wounded—in Rafah’s eastern Tannour neighborhood, as part of their operation dubbed “Gates of Hell.”
Resistance activity has intensified in recent weeks, with the Israeli army admitting to the deaths of 856 soldiers since the war began on October 7, 2023, including 8 fatalities since operations resumed in Gaza on March 18, 2024.
Official figures also cite 5,847 wounded soldiers, 2,641 of whom were injured in ground battles within Gaza. These statistics include Israeli military casualties in Gaza, southern Lebanon, and the West Bank.
However, Israeli authorities face accusations of concealing the true death toll, particularly as Palestinian factions repeatedly announce successful ambushes and attacks resulting in Israeli casualties.
International reports point to strict military censorship in Israel concerning losses—both human and material—aimed at preserving public morale.
