In a statement issued by the ICRC, Spoljaric described the agreement as a turning point following “two years of horror,” emphasizing the need to seize this opportunity to alleviate humanitarian suffering.

She explained that ICRC teams operating in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank will support the implementation of the agreement by assisting in the return of hostages and detainees to their families, repatriating human remains to their relatives, and preparing to bring additional relief supplies into Gaza for safe distribution to those in need.

Spoljaric noted that the coming days will be crucial, urging all parties to honor their commitments, ensure that the release operations are carried out safely and with respect for the dignity of all involved, and to resume humanitarian aid delivery urgently and fully.

She stressed that “the sustainability of the ceasefire is essential, as people’s lives depend on it.” – (Petra)
