Israeli Army Announces Death of Soldier During Fighting in Southern Lebanon

The Israeli military announced on Saturday that one of its soldiers was killed during fighting in southern Lebanon, bringing the total number of Israeli soldiers reported killed since the signing of the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the war in the Middle East to five.

In a statement, the military said that First Sergeant Ari Nir was killed during combat operations in southern Lebanon.

The announcement came a day after the Israeli army reported the deaths of four military personnel during clashes with the Iran-backed group Hezbollah.
