Iranian authorities on Monday executed two men convicted of spying for Israel, according to Mizan Online, the official website of the Iranian judiciary.

Mizan Online reported that "Omid Behzad and Pourya Safwat were executed this morning, Monday, for transferring coordinates of sensitive military and security sites to Mossad agents," referring to Israel’s foreign intelligence agency.
The website provided no further details regarding the date of their arrest or trial, stating only that they were convicted of "spying and cooperating with the Zionist regime," according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).
According to Iranian state television, the two men were convicted of espionage within the context of the current war that began with a U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran on February 28, as well as during the previous 12-day war in June 2025.
According to non-governmental organizations—including Amnesty International—Iran is the world's most prolific executioner after China.
Iranian authorities executed at least 1,639 people in 2025, a record figure since 1989, according to reports by Norway-based Iran Human Rights and Paris-based Together Against the Death Penalty (ECPM).
Last week, Amnesty International condemned the "increase" in executions carried out by Iranian authorities, hours after the Islamic Republic announced the execution by hanging of two men linked to the anti-government protests that shook Iran last winter. – (Agencies)
